Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about geocaching adventures and GPS treasure hunts in Czech Republic
Not really—most people start with just a smartphone and a free geocaching app like Geocaching or c:geo. If you want to get serious, a dedicated GPS device gives you better accuracy in dense forests, but honestly, modern phones work great for 90% of caches across Czech trails.
Absolutely. Our family trails are specifically designed for kids aged 6-12, with cache distances between 0.5–2 km and mostly accessible terrain. We rate difficulty from 1 to 5, and family trails stick to 1–2 ratings. Your 7-year-old will have fun spotting the caches and signing the logbooks.
A family outing hitting 3–5 caches usually takes 2–3 hours, including walking time and moments spent searching. Experienced hunters move faster, while beginners (and kids who want to explore every cache thoroughly) take longer—and that's fine.
It happens to everyone. Read the cache description and previous finder comments for hints—they often give away the hiding spot without spoiling the fun. If you're still stuck after 10 minutes, move on to the next one. Remember, the hike itself is the real treasure.
Yes, but spring through autumn is ideal—winter snow can make coordinates harder to reach, and some trails flood in heavy rain. We recommend our GPS Navigation Skills Workshop (which runs year-round) so you're ready whenever the weather looks good.
Each trail teaches you map reading, coordinate interpretation, and GPS device basics through real-world practice. You're not just following a compass—you're learning *why* those coordinates matter and how to plan your own routes afterward.
